NANCY DELEUZE è il nome della cantante e performer recentemente aggiuntasi al roaster della Electric Heroes Records (Eroi Elettrici Dischi), una piccola casa di produzioni artistiche e di agitazione culturali con base nel luganese.
Nancy Deleuze, che ha 19 anni ed è figlia di una famiglia altoborghese parigina, è accompagnata in Arizona Teen, singolo che annuncia il suo EP d’esordio, dal “Dorian Ravallo International Quartet”, misterioso complesso del quale non si conosce praticamente nulla ma che certamente è figlio della produzione virtuosa di Giordano Tatum Rush, cantante americano residente in Svizzera il cui nome appare sulla copertina del singolo in qualità di produttore esecutivo.
La Electric Heroes Records, fondata e gestita da James Dylan Ray, si occupa di stabilire contatti rizomatici sul territorio, e offre, tramite svariati profili di diversi social network, un discreto catalogo che passa dall’hip hop dei Roughcats al free jazz dei 6M, dalla noise techno di DJ BRX e Grim alle polifonie binaurali di Casio Mendez, dal no-fi rnr dei Caramel Dandies Electric Storm alle sonorità intime di Dizzy Davis.
L’etichetta, che produce edizioni fisiche a tiratura e circolazione limitatissime, ha recentemente prodotto alcuni singoli di Dorian Ravallo, tra i quali la ballad Jazz for Salomè, accompagnata da un video girato appositamente a Dubai, e le disco hits new wave Substance W.I.F.E. e Naked Feathers, delle quale sono stati editi alcuni remix tra cui uno lounge-funky a opera di Master Keaton e uno trap firmato Yaku.
Arizona Teen possiede tutti gli ingredienti di una hit internazionale: la voce sensuale di Nancy è accompagnata da un sound accattivante e da un solido groove, il drive è ipnotico, abbagliante. Il brano, che strizza l’occhio alle sonorità disco degli anni ottanta, e alle parallele derive new wave, ha però uno stile personale e contemporaneo, e presenta infatti delle sfumature trip hop, rarefatte. Il testo inglese, tanto semplice quanto affinato, descrive i pensieri di una ragazza innamorata e triste, chiusa in una suite di un Hilton, che impugna un barattolo di Tranxilium nella mano destra e un Iphone 7 nella sinistra. Un raggio di luce si riflette dal carrello del buffet sul verde della moquette: una scarpa rossa col tacco risplende nel vuoto del living room.
